Our Board

Seamus Murphy, Non-Executive Chairman, has been involved in the license trade since the 1960s. He founded Standwood Taverns in 1984 and was formerly the Chief Executive of Real Leisure. He remains on the board with the responsibility of identifying potential acquisitions. He is the largest shareholder in the group, with 12.92% of the equity

Key roles & responsibilities

  • Leadership of the Board, ensuring its effectiveness and setting its agenda. ensuring, through the company secretary that the members of the board receive clear, accurate and timely information
  • Arranging the regular evaluation of the performance of the board, its committees and individual Directors
  • Seeking out and identifying suitable targets for acquisition and Investment.

Mel Belligero, Chief Executive, has had considerable experience within the brewing restaurant and hotel sector. He started his career at Whitbread where he was involved with new ventures including Henry's Café Bars and TGI Fridays. He went on to My Kinda Town, then City Centre Restaurants where he was responsible for developing wet sales within the branded and unbranded business on a national level. He then went on to develop food sales for Allied Domecq in certain UK regions and was later appointed General Manager of New Project Development, which covered the branded and unbranded business across the U.K.

  • Overseeing the day to day management of the Company

A Chartered Accountant, has been involved with the company since August 1993. Initially as Financial Accountant to the Standwood group of companies and Real Leisure. He was appointed Group Accountant upon the reverse takeover of Pubs n Bars Plc in September 1999.Prior to that he was a financial accountant to Intertechnique (Aero space) Limited, a French subsidiary of an aircraft parts manufacturer and was a manager at James & Cowper Chartered Accountants.
He was appointed to the Board in January 2005.

Key roles & responsibilities

  • Preparing annual Budgets and medium term projections for the company and closely monitoring performances against plans and budgets
  • Overall supervision of the day to day operations of the Finance and administrative functions of the company.

 

 

Jeffrey Coburn was appointed to the Board in July 2004, he is director of John East & Partners Limited specialising in corporate fiance for smaller companies. He has spent his whole career in the city as a Fund Manager ,Stockbroker and Corporate Financier and in 1997 was a parliamentary candidate.

Keith Chapman, is a senior partner of Crouch, Chapman Chartered Accountants, formerly auditors to Real Leisure and Standwood for 10 years.
